Tie-dye!

After enjoying a relaxing Saturday morning, a few of us went into town! When we got back, some of us decided we had to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. So we went over to an event being held outside in the Parker Quad. It was called Take Back the Night and was all about prevention and awareness of sexual harassment. When we got there, they had SO many t-shirts to give away. They even had tie-dying materials for us to use on our new t-shirts! We all made 2 tie-dye shirts; it was a lot of fun! After tie-dying, we sat out on the grass and listened to some musical performances which were really great. They even provided Subway for all of us! I really loved attending this event and being outside in such nice weather :)

I'm so thankful that it's Friday! I had one class in the morning and hung out in the afternoon. We watched a movie and went to town for dinner. We ate at the Bistro. It was a little disappointing because we were expecting to get breakfast food, but on Friday nights they don't serve anything off the breakfast menu. I ended up getting a quesadilla and split a piece of cheesecake with Allison :) The weather today was beautiful, and on the way back to the suite we took some photos!

Gloom & Sunshine

Today's weather really reflected my emotional state today. The first half of the day it was thunderstorming (when I had to walk to class). I really wasn't feeling well and I just wasn't having a good day. By the time of my class at 4:30, I was able to wear shoes other than rainboots, which was a good sign! After my ASL class, the weather was absolutely gorgeous! The sun was shining and all the humidity was gone. I didn't have enough time to stop at my room after class, since I planned on going to an extra credit event on campus at 6. So I walked around a little bit and took some pictures. The event was held at the College Terrace and they served us appetizers and ice cream! I was totally not expecting that, what a perfect surprise. When I got back to my room, I worked more on my application and did some homework. Later, Katelyn let me borrow her guitar and I played around with some new chords and songs that I haven't tried before! :)

Artsy

I slept in this morning and got brunch at the dining hall when I woke up! After brunch I talked with Teddy for a while. Today was really warm and humid, so we got frozen yogurt at Freshen's before heading over to ASL club :) It cooled me down, but ended up melting all over my hand before we got to the club meeting. At the meeting, we finished the movie Gerald which we started a couple weeks ago. There ended up being this giant twist in the movie that I wasn't expecting. It was really interesting! On our way back to the suite, we noticed a group of people crowding around a stand. We found out that someone was working on their senior art project and was involving other students. The whole project is very complicated, but I'll try to describe it. There are these small clay designs with printed flowers on one side and a mini paper slot. The point of the paper slot is to write a special note to someone either complementing them or thanking them in some way. When you give it to whoever, they take their clay piece and place it in the ground with a bunch of others and take an existing piece home with them. Eventually, all the existing clay pieces (with the dragonfly side up) will be taken out and replaced with the flower printed clay pieces, creating a colorful work of art. Two of my suitemates and I gave them to each other, so we each got to take one home. I have pictures of our pieces, and I will hopefully take a photo tomorrow of the pieces in the ground. Later we got free pizza from an activity in our hall! Enjoy :)

Water For Elephants

The weather today was really warm! It was even hot outside walking to class in the morning. After class I went to lunch and a bunch of us sat outside to enjoy the weather :) We all decided that since none of us have class tomorrow that we would go out to dinner and see a movie together! We all have really wanted to see the movie Water for Elephants, but it's not playing in the New Paltz Cinema. So we went to another theater instead, and stopped at a 50's themed diner first! It was fun to make last minute plans and get out of the suite. We saw Water for Elephants and I really enjoyed it! I ended up taking a lot of photos today because of the beautiful weather and our trip to the movies! :)

Hectic

This morning I had to wake up extra early to drive back to New Paltz and make it to my class by 9:25. I left my house on time and had a nice drive back to school. I made myself a cd for the car ride which was much better than searching for a good radio station. When I got to New Paltz there was so much traffic which put me behind schedule. So as soon as I got back to my dorm I quickly grabbed my stuff for class and ended up being 5 minutes late. Luckily my teacher was even later than I was. Being on time wouldn't have been as big of a deal if I didn't have a quiz at the beginning of every class. But I was able to take the quiz and everything worked out! After my morning classes, I went back to my suite to find an email saying I received an override into the ASL2 class! I'm so happy that I am able to take it next semester :) I went to my afternoon class and on the way back stopped in the registrar office to officially sign up for ASL2. Before dinner I worked on an application and later we watched Across the Universe!

I found this when I got back to my room. When my friend Greg visited, he brought a whole box of rice crispy treats. I LOVE them, so after I left for the weekend he left them on my bed to surprise me. My artistically talented suitemate Carly decided to spell out my name with them.

Easter!

This morning I woke up early to go to church for Easter Sunday. In the church service I was the lector and read in front of the congregation. After church, I hung out with Teddy for as long as I could until we each had to go to our own family events. I went to Lakeview with a big group of my family. We were there for a couple hours and they all came to my house afterwards. We had dessert and some coffee talk. Later I heard the doorbell ring and it was Teddy! He was supposed to be on his way back to school, but found out that it didn't open until tomorrow. So he ended up hanging out here for a while :) We watched a couple of episodes of Lie to Me and I'm now addicted to this show! It's about this group of people who pay close attention to the body language of suspects to determine whether they are lying or not. It's really good and I recommend it if you like shows like CSI or NCIS. I decided that I didn't feel like driving back to school tonight, and I'm getting up early tomorrow to get there before class. Goodnight!


P.s. I updated my blog picture from my snowy front yard to some green grass! I hope to update it again when I come home in May for the summer. I'm expecting the trees to look less bare and more colorful :)

Egg Hunt!

Today I met some friends at the movies to see Arthur! As soon as we got home we headed over to a family party for an Easter egg hunt! It was extreme egg hunting in the woods, it was a lot of fun! After hunting for eggs, we went inside and colored eggs. We had a delicious dinner and birthday cake for my brother. After a long day and a bag full of Easter candy, I was happy to go home and just relax for the night.

Registration

This morning I woke up early so I could grab breakfast before signing up for classes at 10:30. My sign up for classes went pretty well. I was hoping to get into some other classes and different times, but overall I'm happy with my schedule! I am unfortunately taking my first 8AM class since beginning college, but I'll live. After registration, I headed to my one class of the day. As soon as class was over, I got ready to head back home for the weekend. At home, I caught up on American Idol while waiting for people to get to my house! At 5:30 I met with a fashion designer to go over what I will be wearing in a Fashion Show in May! I'm getting really excited for it! Later, Teddy and Timmy came over and we got bbq chicken pizza as our Friday night tradition :)

SunSunSun!

My goal today was get through all of my classes quick so I could get ready to go home again tomorrow! My classes did go by fast, and the weather definitely helped. The sun was out for most of the day even though the wind was pretty chilly. Our friend Greg made a surprise visit to us today! He is definitely a character. We all went to dinner at the dining hall together and later that night we played a game that combines charades and catch phrase! I had so much fun with everyone! We had a photo shoot later that night too! After all the fun was over I had to make sure I was prepared to sign up for my classes in the morning. Here are some pictures! :)

Quick

Everything about this post is quick. My day went by so fast and I really didn't do much. I hung out for the most part and headed back to school after dinner. By the time I got back to school it was pretty late. I chatted with my suitemates for a little bit and then went to bed for some much needed sleep.

Late Nights

This morning I woke up and caught up on Say Yes to the Dress :) Unfortunately I couldn't watch it all day because I had an appointment in the early afternoon. Later in the day, Teddy and Timmy came over to hang out. After playing Call of Duty for a little while, we decided to make a late night McDonald's run. We brought my brother and his friend with us, it was actually a lot of fun! I didn't order anything, but stole some of Teddy's fries when he wasn't paying attention :)

Film

Today I did a lot of hanging out. I randomly decided to watch Final Destination in the morning. I bought it for cheap a while ago and completely forgot I had it until today. It was the newer version..and it wasn't that good. But it kept me slightly entertained for a little while. Later I went over to Teddy's house and we picked up my brother from school. Later that night we watched the new Harry Potter movie! I saw it in theaters when it first came out and it was nice to see it again. I can't wait for the second half to come out in July!

Barnsider

This morning Teddy and I made breakfast and then headed over to my house. I played around with my brother's guitar for a little bit and just hung out. Later in the afternoon we met Teddy's parents for dinner at the Barnsider. The restaurant was much fancier than I expected, and dinner was delicious. We split a warm apple crisp for dessert :)

On Friday I failed to mention in my post that we played basketball in my driveway! I'm so excited that we are finally able to be outside without freezing our butts off!

Making Music

This morning I woke up and really wanted to learn how to play guitar. My roommate and her new found talent at playing guitar has inspired me! haha My brother plays the guitar, and he let me borrow his acoustic to practice on. He wouldn't teach me, so I learned some chords on my own searching the internet. Fortunately, I picked up four chords pretty fast..which are found in most of Taylor Swift songs. When I played the chords and they sounded right, it was such an awesome feeling! I looked up a bunch of different chords online, and most of them required a capo..so I made my own out of rubberbands and a pencil. It worked, and now I'm able to try out a lot more songs :) Other than that, I hung out with Teddy during the day (today marks 3 & 1/2 years together :]) . Later that night, Tim and Sara picked us up and went to see a movie called Source Code. Jake Gyllenhaal is in it and I actually really liked it. On the way back home it poured. The weather at home has been so unpredictable!

Road Trip

What a beautiful day for a road trip! Today is Teddy's last day of classes before his Spring Break, so I drove out to Oneonta to pick him up. When I got there I helped him bring his stuff out to the car and we had lunch! Feeling great after a yummy Wendy's frosty, we were back on the road. When we got home it was only in the early afternoon. I dropped Teddy off and made plans to hang out with him later. Back at home I found a cheesy chick flick to watch in the mean time. Later, Teddy and Timmy came over and we picked up a bbq chicken pizza. We hung out for the rest of the night playing a Kinect sports game and Call of Duty!

Last night, my brother was working on an English project where you create your own book. I did the same project when I was in his grade and found it in a big shoebox where I keep all sorts of things. I ended up going through it today and had a great time finding things from middle school and high school! The book I made is on the left.

Early Start to a Long Weekend

I love days like today..waking up feeling anxious about a test and falling asleep in my own bed without a care :) Once my test was over at noon I felt very relieved. After that I still had two more classes ending at 6. In between my last 2 classes, my suitemate Carly and I bought smoothies from Freshens! I had Mystic Mango and it was sooo delicious. On our walk back to the suite, we peeked at the renovations going on in our soon-to-be residence hall! After my last class of the day, my mom picked me up and brought me home for my long weekend. I only have one class on Fridays and it's cancelled tomorrow! We also have Monday and Tuesday off for Passover (I also have Wednesdays off..so I've got a 6 day weekend ahead of me!). Unfortunately I still have classes Thursday and Friday, and plan to come home again next weekend for Easter..lots of driving back and forth. Anyways, once I got home I had dinner with my family and caught up on American Idol. Busy day = lack of photography. Here's a yummy picture I found on good ol' Google.

Crispell!

Today I have dedicated my day to studying for my Language Disorders test. It's my last test for this class before the final exam, which shows how close we are to the end of the semester! First, lets rewind to this morning. A couple of us woke up especially early on our day off to sign up for rooms next year. We were so lucky to have such an early sign up time, because we were able to get the last available suite in the newly renovated building! I am super excited to see all of the changes to the building when we move in next semester! After grabbing some breakfast, I had a meeting with my advisor about scheduling classes next semester. I reeeeeally hope I can get into the classes I need. I went back to my room to cram as much info into my head for my test until 3. We had ASL club then, and we started to watch a film called Gerald. The movie is completely silent (with subtitles for us hearing people) and about a man who finds out he has a grandfather with autism. We didn't finish the movie today, but I look forward to finishing the rest of it. The rest of my day consisted of more studying. Here's a picture of one of my purchases from this past weekend :)

Pop Quiz

The paper that I worked on all of yesterday was due in my first class today. Our teacher was nice enough to also give us a pop quiz in class. Oh well. After class I grabbed lunch and a few of us went to Stop & Shop. I had to pick up a snack to bring to ASL club tomorrow! I had my sign language class at 4:30 and then was done for the day. After dinner I studied a little bit for my Child Language Disorders exam on Thursday while watching House of Wax. I loveee horror films! Especially the lame, corny ones!

Summer Weather

The weather today was gorgeous!!! It was great to finally be able to walk to class without wearing a jacket! Another positive addition to my day was that I had only two classes rather than three :) On the down side I spent the majority of my free time working on my paper that is due tomorrow. It was unfortunate because I would have loved to be outside. I hope everyone is enjoying this random day of summer weather!

Long Distance

Today was a usual Sunday. We went to the dining hall for brunch and I did homework for most of the day. I worked on my essay for my Interpersonal Communication class on long distance relationships. I am writing it as if it were an article for a magazine, so the style is a little different and much more fun to write. Throughout the day, ABC Family has been playing some of my favorite movies! They played Dirty Dancing, Hairspray, and Grease back-to-back-to-back! They were great background movies to my morning/afternoon :) Later we walked into town for Emma's birthday dinner! We went to the Main Street Bistro and I had a delicious bbq grilled chicken sandwich. Since we got back I've worked on my paper and watched another movie with my suitemates!

SuperSonic!

This morning I slept in a little bit and went to the dining hall for breakfast. After that I helped my friend Allison carry her art stuff from the art room to our suite! She is SO talented :) We went to Vassar College during the day to visit a museum! A couple of us non-art majors tagged along for the ride. After the museum we stopped at Sonic for dinner! On the way home we stopped at the mall. When I got back to my room, I video chatted with Teddy, my brother and his friend! I was jealous that I couldn't be home to hang out with them. Orange

Hooray for Friday! This morning I had one class and hung out for the remainder of the day. We went into town to Stop & Shop and ate at Fat Bob's for pizza later :) I just painted my nails orange for the first time! haha

Frankenstein

Today was busy day, but went by fast! I had four classes and one exam. It felt so nice when they were all over with because it is now basically Friday. After classes I grabbed dinner and we watched Young Frankenstein later! I'm gonna make this post quick and end it with that!

Happy Birthday Sean!

Today is my brother, Sean's, birthday! He is a whopping 15 years old..I can't believe it! Today was a relaxing day of no classes. I did some homework and went to ASL club at 3! We watched part of another documentary called Through Deaf Eyes. I hung out for the rest of the day until Zumba again at 6:30! I grabbed dinner after my Zumba class. Today we found out that Ben & Jerry's has a new flavor of ice cream (Red Velvet Cake) and they were selling it at my dining hall! I HAD to get some and split it with my roommate, red velvet is my favorite! Here are some pics! :)

When I Look to the Sky

I had one class this morning on this dreary, rainy day. In between my morning class and my late afternoon class, I found the journal I plan on using for my Interpersonal Communication essay that's due next week. I decided to write my article on personal relationships and chose a journal that was related. Once my afternoon class ended, I grabbed dinner and headed to a Zumba class! I took this picture on my way back from Zumba; the lights from the building reflecting off the water was so pretty! I only had my phone, so I'm sorry for the poor quality!

Today was supposed to be fairly warm, but ended up being chilly and windy. I had my first two classes and on my way back to the suite I was freezing! I grabbed lunch and had one more class in the afternoon. After class I hung out and went to the gym before dinner. I later studied a little bit in preparation for a possible pop quiz! Thats pretty much it for a boring Monday.
