Hearing Science = No fun

For the whole day I've been dreading studying for my Hearing Science test. Today I was even studying in my music class and I'm just overwhelmed with the amount of information. I'm just going to hope for the best! That seems to be the theme of the week.. Anyways, I found a picture of in a magazine of a hair style that I think is adorable! So today I tried to do my hair like that, but it didn't turn out so good. I think my hair is too short for it to work. I'm kind of upset because I missed Glee and the Christmas tree lighting in Rockefeller Center on tv because I was studying :( At noon tomorrow I will be much happier. Here is the picture of the hair style in my magazine!

My day started off good with my two classes in the morning. Right after I went to ASL club where we talked about new officers for next semester. My roommate and I are thinking about running for officers, I think it would be a great opportunity! Later I started my 6-10 page paper I have to write for Friday. I didn't get very far but I got a lot of research done so I guess that's some progress. I have a huge test for my Hearing Science class on Wednesday and I'm going to start studying for as soon as I'm done with this post. There is SO much information being tested and I'm really nervous. I'm going to study for the rest of the night and devote my day tomorrow for studying as well. I forgot to mention that Katelyn and I watched The Grinch today! No matter how many tests/essays we have in our lives, there is always room for Christmas movies :) Speaking of Christmas, I decided to change into the shirt I bought when I went to see Elf in NYC! I knew I would share it on my blog eventually so I figured today would be a fine day to do it!

p.s.   New song of the day..it kind of fits in with my day.

Football & Decorating

Today we had a football party at my house to watch the Giants game. They ended up winning which meant everyone was leaving my house in a good mood :) We had chili for dinner and it was so good! I normally don't eat chili but I tried it today and ended up loving it! After the party I packed up my stuff and headed back to school. I was so glad I wasn't headed in the opposite direction because traffic was so bad that way! When I got back to school, a few of us decorated the common room to our suite for the holidays. Both me and my roommate brought small Christmas trees so we put one of them in our bedroom and the other in the common room. We strung up some lights, put up window decorations, and ended up with a great holiday display!

Teddy's Birthday!

Happy Birthday Teddy! This morning, Teddy picked me up early and we headed over to his cousin's house. For my Language Development in Children class we have to observe a child aged 2-4 and I don't have any family with children that young so I decided to work with Teddy's little cousin Karina. I had to talk with her for a little while and get at least 50 utterances from her so I can calculate her MLU..it's complicated lol.. but she is so adorable and everything worked out great! It feels good now that I don't have to worry about it anymore because I was getting a little nervous that I wouldn't find a kid! When I got home I transcribed the whole video of me with Karina which took a while. After wards I hung out with Teddy for his birthday! We had dinner with his family and delicious birthday cake! I forgot to mention that it snowed here today which was really exciting! I dragged Teddy outside for a picture of him in the snow..The snow didn't show up too well in the picture but oh well :) It's Teddy's birthday, so it's only appropriate of me to post a picture of him!

Today was a very cold day. That's why I spent the entire day inside my house! I pretty much just lounged around all day. Teddy and I watched the first Harry Potter to see how much the actors have changed! In the evening a few of my good friends came over to my house for a small get together. The guys outnumbered the girls 4 - 2 so we spent the whole night playing video games. One of my best friends that came over, Timmy, is probably the best person I know at call of duty! He's way too awesome :) Only took one photo today and it came out kind of dark, but it'll do!

Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving! Today was probably one of the best Thanksgivings because I was able to stay home and still get to see most of my family! In the morning I watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and helped my mom a little bit with getting things ready for dinner. My family came over in the early afternoon and of course ate our own body weight in delicious food! :) My favorite food to eat on Thanksgiving is the sweet potato casserole, it's so good. My family and I had a great time after wards playing Apples to Apples! After everyone left, my brother and I took some photos for our Christmas card that my mom sends out. Teddy decided to get in on some of them, so I figured I would share them with you!

Harry Potter & Reunion

Today was such a great day! The first part of my day consisted of sleeping in and then getting my haircut in the early afternoon. I asked my hairdresser to only cut an inch off but my hair feels so much shorter so I think she definitely cut off more! Oh well, I don't mind. After I got my haircut I went back home and got ready to go to out! I went with Teddy and Sean and we met up with some of my family at the movie theater in Crossgates. We went to see the new Harry Potter movie and I really liked it! I've only read the first couple of books, but I still follow the movies and I think they are great! :) After the movie Teddy and I picked up our friend Sara and went to another friend's house for a get-together. There were so many people there from high school and it was really nice to see everyone again! Unfortunately out of all the things I did today I took no photos so I'm just going to post a simple picture of the 7th Harry Potter book that I happen to have but still haven't read..

Home for Thanksgiving!

I'm going to make today's post short because I'm really tired and would like to go to bed. Today I of course had a test right before I could leave for break. I was SO excited when I was done because it was finally break! It felt like it took forever for Thanksgiving to finally get here. I drove home and brought mine and Katelyn's fish home with me! His name is Greg BuddHA (emphasis on the "HA") :) When I got home I unpacked and have just been hanging out the rest of the day. Here's a great picture of Greg I took when we arrived home!

No Surprise

Today was nothing new.. I had two classes in the morning and worked on homework during the day. I did some laundry so I had clean clothes to bring home for Thanksgiving. I have a test tomorrow :( so I'll be studying the rest of the night. I'm going to keep this post kind of short so I can get back to studying. Today on my way to class I noticed the geese were swimming almost perfectly in a row so I took a picture for blogging!

P.S. New song of the day, check it out! :)
Thanks to my suitemate Carly for getting this song stuck in my head today!

Fraggle Rock!

Not much happened on my Sunday. I woke up kind of late which I didn't like. I hate wasting my day sleeping. I think it was because I didn't sleep well the night before. I'm allergic to Teddy's dog and she also kept waking me up in the middle of the night. I love his dog so there's no way I would ever avoid her haha Anyways, my mom and I went shopping at Target and Price Chopper in the afternoon. We got some Christmas gifts and picked up some things for Thanksgiving dinner. When we got home I played a little bit of Black Ops with my brother! My favorite thing to do is use the remote controlled cars in the game :) I'm not really sure where we got this idea, but before dinner we dug out the movie Fraggle Rock from our old VHS collection! We both remembered watching this over and over when we were younger so we decided to watch it while we ate dinner. It was so funny to see how much we still remember. After dinner I had to head back to school, so we failed to watch the whole thing. Now I am back to school and Elf is on tv so I am watching it for the hundredth time this year..it never gets old to me! :)

P.S. Check out the link "Song of the Day" at the top of the page! I probably will struggle finding a new song everyday but I'll try to update it often :)

Over the Hill

I've had such a great day! Teddy and I made eggs for breakfast and got to hang out with his mom for a little. We both headed back to my house to get ready to go out to dinner for my dad's birthday. Teddy, Sean and I randomly decided to play Mad Gab and ended up playing until we left. Dinner was at the Towne Tavern and there were 18 of us! After dinner everyone came back to my house for desert. It was great to be able to hang out with a big group of my family! The girls that I babysit in the summer and their parents came too and it was great to see them. All the kids ended up playing more Mad Gab since it was sitting out in the living room already. I'm taking my cousin Lily's picture of the cake to put on here because it was awesome! We also took a family picture that I'll also include in this post. Goodnight!

I just have to add that while I was creating this post I was watching tv and the same commercial in the link I posted about Mad Gab came on! What a coincidence :)

"This night is flawless.."

Hooray for Friday! Today, my main goal was to get my test out of the way. For some reason I've been very anxious to just get it over with. Since the test wasn't until 1:40PM, it seemed like forever before I was able to take it. When 3:00 came and I was done I was so relieved. Once I got back to my room I gathered all of my things together and headed home. By the time I reached home is was almost dark! After being home for a little, Teddy picked me up and we went shopping at Crossgates. I love going to the mall this time of the year because they already have the Christmas decorations up and they are so pretty! We grabbed dinner at the mall and now are back at Teddy's. I was disappointed because I forgot to bring my camera to the mall with me. I did happen to take a picture earlier of my brother, Sean. Once he realized I was taking it he decided to run away but it actually made the picture look really neat! Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Studying & Game Night

Today I've been studying on and off for my test tomorrow and plan on studying a little more before bed. I'm hoping the test will be on the easy side so I can leave a little early. I have the test in my last class of the day and I'd like to finish the test early so I can head home earlier. New Paltz has classes on Monday and Tuesday but I'm going home this weekend since my family is celebrating my dad's birthday. It seems silly to go home this weekend even though Thanksgiving break is right around the corner, but I don't live too far from New Paltz and I'd like to be there for my dad's party. Anyways, a few of us just got back from Condom Casino at the student union building! They had a variety of games like apples to apples, connect four, blackjack, and lots of others. So many people showed up so it was really crowded, but it was still a lot of fun! :)
I'm off to more studying, so here's just a quick snapshot I took of the poster from Casino night.

Projects & Thunderstorms

In one of my recent posts I talked about my project for Hearing Science so I snapped a photo of it and it's awesome :)! Its a board game we designed called Ring Around the Cochlea. You roll the dice and choose a question card. If you answer correctly you move forward the number of spaces on the dice and the first one to reach the last square wins the game! Many of our classmates made crossword puzzles and word searches, but we wanted to have a little more fun with it. Anyways, today was a pretty easy day. I only have one class on Wednesdays and it starts at 10:50AM so I can sleep in!
I'm going to back track a little bit..So this morning at 4:30AM I was woken up by a thunderstorm. It was amazing how loud and windy it was, but the window in my room was open so I wasn't surprised that it woke me up. I also failed to mention that yesterday I got the seasonal flu shot and my arm is still a little sore today. Better than the flu I guess!

Ups and Downs

Today definitely had it's ups and downs. I had to sign up for classes today and it was crazy. While I was getting ready to sign up I realized there were less than 10 spots left in a few of the classes that I needed to sign up for. I was stressed out that once 2:30 came around everyone would attack these few spots and that I wouldn't be able to sign up for them. At 2:30 I went to add my classes and the system denied me for some reason and I panicked. Eventually I figured everything out and actually got into all the classes I was hoping for! I couldn't believe it.
The rest of my day was nice and relaxing. We all watched Glee at 8 and then a few of us went to see the movie Due Date at the cinema! I loved it and thought it was hilarious! It was nice to see a comedy after having a somewhat stressful day. Thanks for reading!

Monday, November 15, 2010

Today was a fairly normal day. I had two classes in the morning and Sign Language club right after them at 12:15. In our club today we talked about applying for graduate school and it was a little nerve-racking. I found out that there is another form of the SAT to take that grad schools look at..great. I'm also nervous because the program I want to get into (speech language pathology) is very competitive. Anyways, today my roommate and I worked on our Hearing Science project. We made a board game in the shape of a cochlea..haha It's actually professional looking and I'll be sure to post a picture of it on my blog soon! After dinner a few of us decided that it was a wonderful day for TCBY and came to find that it was closed for the season =( Luckily there was a McDonald's right across the street to satisfy us with McFlurrys!

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Today was just a relaxing day of doing nothing. I watched Uptown Girls and just hung out the rest of the day. One productive thing I did was figure out what classes I want to take next semester. I already did this a few weeks ago, but a few of the courses I want to take are already full, including sign language :( It's really disappointing that I will have to wait till my Junior year to take it, but there is no other option! So today I just checked out a few different courses to take. I also introduced to my suitemates Allison and Miki the new Call of Duty game since they love it just like me! And that's about all. I struggled to find a picture to post for today, so I just decided to take a snapshot of something that occurs on a regular basis for me..

Blurry picture of me poking Teddy back on Facebook. I think this poke war has been going on now for around 2-3 years.

What a day and where to start! Well this morning I had to wake up super early to catch the train to the city with my mom, my aunt and Teddy. We then met up with my cousins Karen and Lily to go see Elf the Musical! The show wasn't until 2 so we shopped around a bit. We went to Rockefeller Center and I was a little disappointed because Taylor Swift had just been there a couple of weeks ago. So anyways we saw the show and it was fantastic and SO funny! The show had a lot of the same lines as in the movie so it was fun to see them played in a different setting. Teddy and I bought t-shirts and then we all headed to dinner. So now I am back at school and exhausted so that's all for today's post. Thanks for reading!

We shopped in the new Forever 21 in Times Square!

To Write Love On Her Arms..

Yesterday I couldn't find anything special to take a picture of so I figured I'd catch up on today's post. So yesterday I had a test and was done with classes by noon. My Friday classes happened to be canceled so I decided to go home earlier since I am going to see Elf on Saturday!

So today I am home and it is To Write Love on her Arms Day. This day is to help those who are fighting depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide by showing them hope. What happens is people write "love" on their arms to support these people who are suffering. The goal is for people to notice "love" on the arms of those participating and ask what it's there for, and hopefully spread awareness.

Tonight my boyfriend, Teddy, and my two friends Emily and Tim came over to my house to hang out. We had my favorite kind of pizza (bbq chicken) and played the new Call of Duty: Black Ops game! Here's a picture of the men zoning into their game haha

Walk to Town

Wednesday's are great days because I only have one class and the rest of the day I can just relax and catch up on any studying I have to do. Today a few of us spent our Wednesday walking in to town. We went to a couple of stores and then ate out at P&G's. We went to an art store first since a couple of my suitemates are art majors and had to get supplies. We also went to the Groovy Blueberry which is a perfect example of a store you can find in New Paltz. Last time I was there I tried on a really cute hat and was hoping to buy it today but it was already sold out. I only took a couple of photos, one of Groovy Blueberry and one of P&G's.

Glee & Black Ops

I had a fairly productive day today. After classes I got a head start on studying for my test later this week. 8:00 was Glee! The episode didn't have many songs, but I still enjoyed it. After Glee a few of my suitemates and I went down to the main lounge for a "Heating Up" program where we ate cookies and drank hot chocolate while asking the hall government ANY questions we'd like. It was actually a lot of fun and it was nice to get involved with an activity in my dorm.

So today is November 9, the day that Call of Duty: Black Ops comes out. If you didn't know already I love to play Call of Duty probably because both my brother and my boyfriend are addicted so there is no other option for me. I have recently gotten a few of my friends at school addicted so it goes to show how addicting the game is! I don't have Black Ops yet, I pre-ordered it (yes, lame but if you pre-order you get a coupon!) and it is currently at my house. My mom will probably bring it to me this weekend when she picks me up to see Elf in the city! I'm super excited for that, but anyways here is a picture that my boyfriend, Teddy, sent me of the new game. (I didn't take any pictures today so this will have to do.)

Today I went to an American Sign Language Luncheon at my school. There were three speakers including a couple of professors and a deaf professor who shared with us her experiences of living life as a deaf person.  Something that I found really interesting about her was that she and her deaf husband had three hearing children, and they all fluently use both sign language and English. Here is a photo of all of us at the Luncheon.

Earlier in the day, my mom sent me this photo of the weather at my house. It was snowing there this morning. I can't wait for it to snow in New Paltz!

In a little while my suitemates and I are going to grab dinner with our RA from last year. Hope everyone has a good week!

Thoughts of Thanksgiving

My day today was all about Thanksgiving. My mom and I went decoration shopping for our house since we are hosting Thanksgiving dinner for our family this year. My favorite decoration was a big turkey place-mat that we HAD to get because it was so cute. When we got home we helped my dad rake the leaves in our yard. Then back to school I went! My roommate and I are always decorating for the next upcoming holiday, so we decided today was the day to decorate for Thanksgiving. The picture below is not the greatest example of our fantastic decorating abilities, but it gets the job done.

Oneonta & Home

Today was a busy day! First of all it is absolutely freezing in Oneonta today! This afternoon, Teddy and I met up with our friends for lunch at one of the dining halls. We stopped at the bookstore and then it was time for me to head home.

As soon as I got home my family and I went out to dinner at Smokey Bones with my grandparents. It was a lot of fun and dinner was absolutely delicious! It feels so nice to be home!

Friday, November 5, 2010

Today has been such a fun day! After classes I went to Oneonta to surprise my boyfriend, Teddy. He had no idea that I was going to visit and he was so surprised! We went to Brook's BBQ for dinner and we are going to get ice cream soon! Have a good weekend!

Rainy Thursday

It's been raining all day. I love rain, but its horrible weather to walk to class in. It's windy and very chilly outside to make it worse. Even with an umbrella and rainboots I was wet.

Besides the weather I love Thursdays because I only have 2 classes and I'm out by noon. I plan to stay in the rest of the day and watch a movie with my roommate =]

Speak Now

"Don't say yes, run away now,
I'll meet you when you're out,
Of the church at the back door,
Don't wait or say a single vow,
You need to hear me out,"
And they said, "Speak now,"

Today was boring and I found nothing special to take a picture of. All day I've been listening to Taylor Swift's new album Speak Now. I love it! I know that there are so many people who love and hate Taylor Swift. I feel really bad for those who are TSwift haters, it's so sad that they can't enjoy such great music! But everyone has different taste in music so that's alright. My favorite tracks in her album are Last Kiss, Dear John, Long Live, and The Story of Us.

A Change of Pace

Dead batteries in camera = Lame photo

Today was definitely a day of game time decisions. It was Election Day and I decided at the last minute to go out and vote. It was my second time voting and I am really glad that my dad persuaded me to go. I also decided last minute to go to see Jackass 3D. At first I was unsure about going because I thought the movie looked silly, but it ended up being pretty hilarious!

ASL - American Sign Language

I'm a member of the American Sign Language Club and every Monday we play games using sign language. Today we watched a show on MTV called True Life: I'm Deaf. I love learning this language and hope to take a course on it next semester. Next Monday I will be attending an American Sign Language Luncheon and I have to say I am very excited! The sign above means "I love you". It is one of the very few signs I know so far.
